Northumberland Co. to Hold Hearing on Solar Installation, May 17

Northumberland County Planning Commission will hold a hearing next Thursday on proposed amendments to the zoning ordinance addressing solar energy installations for homes, businesses, communities and utilities.

The public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the Northumberland County Courts Building, 220 Judicial Place, Heathsville.

The amendments define Solar Energy systems as "Small System," "Medium Scale," or "Utility Scale," and it details the requirements for application submittal and the approval process for each. A "Small System” would be By-Right Use in all Zoning Districts, whereas Medium Scale and Utility Scale would be Conditional Use in all Zoning Districts.
